About the Role
WQX is seeking a Pipeline Integrity Technician III to support and lead pipeline integrity projects in the field. This is a senior-level, hands-on position for an experienced technician who can operate equipment, direct field crews, coordinate daily work activities, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
This role can function in a lead technician or foreman, depending on project size and scope. The Pipeline Integrity Technician III is expected to lead by example, maintain production, enforce safety expectations, and communicate effectively with management, inspectors, clients, and your fellow crew members.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support pipeline integrity field crews on excavation, coating, repair, maintenance, and inspection-related projects
Operate heavy and light equipment as needed, including excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other job-related machinery
Plan and coordinate daily field activities to meet project goals, schedules, and client expectations
Serve as a working foreman or crew lead on assigned projects
Read and interpret project drawings, work scopes, maps, and job instructions
Conduct or oversee job hazard assessments, pre-task planning, and daily safety meetings
Monitor crew performance, productivity, and jobsite compliance
Ensure proper use, inspection, and care of tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials
Support excavation safety, atmospheric monitoring, coating support, pipe exposure, and related integrity tasks
Maintain accurate field documentation, reports, and communication with project management
Coordinate with inspectors, operators, subcontractors, and client representatives in the field
Identify and address field issues before they impact safety, quality, or schedule
Train and mentor entry-level and mid-level technicians
Qualifications
Previous pipeline, utility, construction, or integrity field experience required
Experience operating construction equipment required
Proven ability to lead crews and direct daily field operations
Strong knowledge of jobsite safety practices and safe equipment operation
Ability to read and understand job scopes, drawings, and field instructions
Good communication and organizational skills
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
Ability to perform physically demanding work
Willingness to travel and stay away from home for extended periods
Valid driver’s license required
CDL preferred, but not required
Preferred Experience
Pipeline integrity or maintenance experience
Excavation around existing utilities or pipelines
Coating support, pipe exposure, anomaly digs, or repair support
Basic equipment inspection and maintenance knowledge
Foreman, lead hand, or crew leader experience
Experience working around owner/operators and inspectors
Work Environment
This position requires extended travel, outdoor work, and physically demanding labor in active construction and pipeline environments. Candidates must be comfortable working in changing terrain, weather conditions, and fast-paced field settings.
